A team of SCM students and staff, led by Professors David Sanders, Steve McCarthy, Tom Franklin and Krystal Acosta, will host a panel discussion on crisis reporting in Puerto Rico, six months after one of the most powerful storms in history ravaged the island.
The team from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ visited Puerto Rico over the spring break week of March 3-10, for a student journalism project on the effects of Hurricane Maria, 6-months later. The team of six students, some with close family ties to the island, each produced a cross-platform reporting project. The devastation wrought by Maria touched nearly everyone at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ State, and the students and faculty wanted to focus on stories of resilience, recovery, and hope.
