The transfer of naive extra animals or animals that are no longer needed on a study protocol and that can be re-utilized in another study protocol is encouraged. This practice is an effective application of the 3Rs.<\/p>\n

Animals can be transferred from one research protocol or PI to another pending the review and approval of the IACUC administration\/attending veterinarian. Note: The Donating PI must include animal transfers within the applicable IACUC protocol(s), specifically in response to the \u201cdisposition\u201d question in Section O. The Receiving PI must include \u201cother PI\u2019s\u201d as a source in Section E.<\/p>\n

  1. A Transfer Form<\/a>\u00a0must be submitted for all animal transfers.<\/li>\n
  2. Please allow 10 business days from the day of submission, for the IACUC administration\/Attending veterinarian to review the transfer request and provide a response.<\/li>\n
  3. The transferring PI will continue to be responsible for the per diem charges, where applicable, until the transfer is completed.<\/li>\n
  4. All rodent transfers will be handled by the LAR team, unless otherwise approved.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
