  {"id":9623,"date":"2012-03-31T10:37:40","date_gmt":"2012-03-31T14:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/news\/article.php?ArticleID=9623"},"modified":"2012-03-31T10:37:40","modified_gmt":"2012-03-31T14:37:40","slug":"9623_-165-attend-philosophy-in-the-schools-day-for-secondary-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/institute-for-the-humanities\/2012\/03\/31\/9623_-165-attend-philosophy-in-the-schools-day-for-secondary-students\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;165 Attend Philosophy in the Schools Day for Secondary Students&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Students and teachers from 16 New Jersey high schools, ranging from the nearby Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Kimberly Academy to Southern Regional in Manahawkin, came to campus Friday, February 10th to take part in our first-ever Philosophy in the Schools Day. &nbsp;This year, the Institute for the Humanities teamed up with the Department of Philosophy and Religion to offer a new program, &quot;The Examined Life.&quot; &nbsp;It featured Logic and Ethics as areas of inquiry that allow us to approach Socrates\u2019 ideal of the \u201cexamined life,\u201d not only to expand students&#8217; intellectual and moral capacities, but also to enhance and add &nbsp;meaning to life. &nbsp;Drs. David Benfield and Kirk McDermid led the Logic sessions. &nbsp;Drs.
