{"id":14768,"date":"2015-07-01T14:17:00","date_gmt":"2015-07-01T18:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/news\/article.php?ArticleID=14768"},"modified":"2018-05-04T12:05:19","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T16:05:19","slug":"14768_welcome-class-of-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2015\/07\/01\/14768_welcome-class-of-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome Class of 2019!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now through the end of July, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ\u2019s incoming class of new students \u2013 the Class of 2019 \u2013 is learning about campus life, resources and their chosen programs of study at <a href=\"\/orientation\/freshman-student-orientation\/\">The Red Hawk 411<\/a>, the University\u2019s first-year student orientation program.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Beginning this year on June 23 with orientation for Honors Program students, 15 orientation days are scheduled through July 29 giving first-year students the opportunity to attend The Red Hawk 411 event of their college, school or program of choice.<\/p>\n<p>The Class of 2019 is the largest incoming class in Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ State history with more than 3,300 students putting down deposits to attend this fall. According to Jeffrey Indiveri-Gant, director of Undergraduate Admissions, the University also received more applications than ever before \u2013 11,940 \u2013 a 10.7 percent increase over last year.<\/p>\n<p>Size, however, is not the only distinguishing characteristic of the incoming class. \u201cThis incoming class of freshmen is distinct,\u201d says Indiveri-Gant. \u201cThey are more engaged, connected to each other, and ready for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ State than ever. We are excited to see them grow here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first class to be admitted under the new SAT\/ACT optional practice, Indiveri-Gant says the Class of 2019 is more geographically diverse than ever before with more students coming from South Jersey and out-of-state.
