Dear Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Community:<\/p>\n
As I wrap up my first day as the university\u2019s president I wanted to take a moment to tell you how excited I am to join this community of faculty, staff and students. It is a privilege to lead an institution with an uncompromising commitment to inclusiveness, excellence and social advancement.<\/p>\n
Over the days, weeks and months ahead, I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and to learning all that I can about all the various parts of the university. Today I began meeting faculty, staff and students, and there will be many opportunities for the entire campus community to get to know me and for me to get to know you!<\/p>\n
I\u2019m already impressed by the university\u2019s strong embrace of diversity, student success, social justice, problem-solving research and community service as core aspirations. We stand at a pivotal moment in higher education, and this university \u2013 with its record of advancing community well-being and supporting student success \u2013 has an amazing opportunity to define the archetype of a university designed to serve the public interest.<\/p>\n
Together we will do great things, and I can\u2019t wait to get started!<\/p>\n
