{"id":4596,"date":"2025-06-25T07:32:52","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T11:32:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/provost\/?page_id=4596"},"modified":"2026-04-24T13:52:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T17:52:58","slug":"montclair-unbound","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/provost\/montclair-unbound\/","title":{"rendered":"Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Unbound"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President Koppell announced an ambitious new effort to reinvent higher education to take full advantage of the changes in technology and the ways people learn and interact.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Unbound initiative will offer degrees in ways that combine modalities \u2013 in-person, asynchronous online, real-time distance interaction \u2013 to meet students where they want to learn. As much as a new operating model, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Unbound is a mindset focused on removing barriers to accessing Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and increasing our openness to different ways of teaching and learning and partnering with organizations to enhance the traditional classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The Steps<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>The first steps toward this vision will be to re-imagine the design, delivery and support for our fully online degree offerings through Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Online.\u00a0<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Later stages will focus on new models of learning, including short-form degrees, stackable credentials, and micro-credentials.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both efforts will be supported by the development of partnerships with corporate and governmental organizations focused on regional workforce development and economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ultimate aim is a broad university-wide transformation and creation of a fully \u201cblended campus,\u201d allowing technology to seamlessly support our learners \u2013 \u201cunbound\u201d from the traditional constraints of higher education.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Our Mission<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Unbound re-imagines higher education for today\u2019s learners by removing barriers, expanding access, and creating flexible, high-quality pathways to success.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Grounded in Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ\u2019s public mission and commitment to the common good, Unbound combines the strengths of in-person learning, asynchronous online study, and real-time distance interaction to meet students where they are \u2014 in their lives, their communities, and their careers.<\/p>\n<p>We design learning experiences that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Elevate access <\/strong>by opening doors to students from every background, ensuring affordability, and valuing the rich talents and ambitions of New Jersey\u2019s diverse communities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Empower student success <\/strong>through proactive, holistic support that helps learners balance school, work, and family responsibilities while preparing them to thrive as compassionate, collaborative citizen-leaders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Partner with employers <\/strong>and communities to align education with real-world opportunity, cultivating innovation, creativity, and the skills needed for prosperity, democracy, and well-being.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Foster a culture of innovation and inclusion <\/strong>that engages faculty as co-creators of new models for teaching, research, and public service, while honoring academic rigor and the integrity of scholarship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At its heart, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Unbound is a movement to <strong>redefine what inclusive higher education can &#8211; and should &#8211; look like<\/strong>: bold in vision, rooted in opportunity, powered by technology, and committed to helping every learner succeed.<\/p>\n<span class=\"prpl-button\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/online\">Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Online<\/a><\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Koppell announced an ambitious new effort to reinvent higher education to take full advantage of the changes in technology and the ways people learn and interact.
